By 2025, number of art education students to increase by 3-5% annually

The Education Code will be adjusted to include clear provisions regarding the organization of artistic education. According to a legislative proposal, by 2025 the number of participants in artistic education is to increase by 3-5% annually.

During public consultations, MP Vitali Gavrouc stated that artistic education is facing a series of functional problems. “We are talking about a stereotyped public perception of the educational path of an artist. And public perception is also reflected in how the government approaches this field. To ensure and maintain a performing artistic level, of professional continuity, a specific and comprehensive approach to the field is needed - what it represents, how it works, how human and financial resources are distributed, what are the real costs in the field and the benefits created for society”, said the lawmaker.

Marcelina Baleca, department head at the Ministry of Education, said that the proposed bill will ensure the development of arts schools. “The update of the normative framework of arts schools is synchronized with the Action Plan for implementing the 2030 Education Strategy. Another dimension addressed in the draft law is non-formal education in the artistic field, ensuring access to quality education throughout life being one of the priorities of the Ministry. Accordingly, the draft law also aims to increase the number of children and adults who have access to non-formal education in arts schools and creative centers”, said Marcelina Baleca.
