The Cabinet endorsed the Regulations and Action Plan for Emergency Situations in the Natural Gas Sector. The document, developed by the Ministry of Energy, establishes measures to ensure the supply of natural gas, adapted to three levels of crisis: early alert situation, alert situation and emergency situation. Depending on the type and severity of the crisis, the institutions involved will activate specific measures, aimed at ensuring the continuity of natural gas supply in the country, IPN reports.
According to the Ministry of Energy, the planned measures will help to strengthen the preparation of the responsible authorities and companies in the energy sector for possible exceptional situations in the natural gas sector, in line with EU good practices.
An important element provides for the priority allocation of gas for power plants that produce electricity based on natural gas and have a critical role in the electricity system.
The Secretariat of the Energy Community, through the Security of Supply Coordination Group, will provide assistance to the Republic of Moldova in the event of a crisis and will facilitate the continuity of gas flows in the region, say the Regulations.
