The Moldovan athletes who will win gold medals at this summer’s Olympic and Paralympic Games will receive awards of 3 million lei each from the state. Those who will rank second and third will receive 2.6 and 2 million lei, respectively. This is provided in a draft decision that was approved by the Cabinet on Wednesday, IPN reports.
The athletes with the fourth and fifth places will be awarded 600,000 lei each. For the sixth place, the award will be 400,000 lei, while for the seventh and eighth places -300,000 lei and 200,000 lei, respectively.
Prizes will also be awarded to coaches who have trained athletes in the past four years and medical staff who provided medical and kinetotherapeutic assistance during four years until the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The 33rd Summer Olympics and the 17th Paralympic Games will take place from 26 July to 11 August 2024 in Paris, France.
Seven Moldova athletes have qualified for the current edition of the Olympic Games. Another 13 athletes are expected to qualify yet.
