Car crash in Ungheni leaves one dead and one critically injured
A 20-year-old youth died last night, on August 17, after the motorbike he was driving was hit at full speed by a car that did not yield. The biker’s passenger, a 16-year-old girl, was transported to the hospital in a very bad state. The accident took place on Decebal Street in Ungheni.
Criminal investigation officer Gheorghe Adam told Info-Prim Neo that the youth were riding their bike on the national R1 Ungheni – Sculeni highway. Suddenly, the bike was hit by an Audi automobile, driven by a 38-year-old man. The latter was supposed to yield to the bike.
The impact was fatal for the boy; he died on his way to the hospital. The girl that was him was transported to the Ungheni District Hospital with multiple injuries. Neither of them wore protection helmets.
Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, hospital director Lidia Craciun stated that the girl was hospitalized to the reanimation wing. She suffered had fractured her pelvic bones and one femur, along with second degree traumatic shock.
