The economic entities, state-owned companies, education institutions and customs posts will take additional measures to prevent A (H1N1) influenza cases. The epidemiological situation and the prophylaxis measures were discussed at a meeting of the Chisinau anti-epidemic commission, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Moldova is at Stage Six, which is the highest pandemic alert level, said Nicolae Furtuna, the deputy state sanitary inspector of the municipality of Chisinau. According to him, the preventive medicine service monitors weekly all the institutions and informs the population about this virus.
A number of 364 education institutions have been inspected last week. The largest part of these have been supplied with liquid soap and hand driers, said Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb, the head of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport.
Nicolae Furtuna said that 26 public carriers and 337 public units of transport had been examined last week. The General Public Transport and Communication Ways Division will check if the bus and trolleybus terminals have set up special places where the drivers can have a rest, eat and observe personal hygiene.
Tudor Bezer, the head of the Border Guards Service's Medical Division, said that all the employees of the Service will be vaccinated against seasonal flu and provided with masks. 300 vaccines have been received so far, but there are 400 employees. About 40 employees of the Chisinau airport will be vaccinated this week.
Luminita Suveica, the deputy head of the Health Division, said that all the public medical and sanitary institutions have masks, smocks and hand driers.
Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said that all the measures taken until present contributed to a better situation than in the neighboring countries. He instructed that the persons entering Moldova be examined at railway terminals, airports and other points so as to prevent the spread of the virus.
Twenty-eight cases of pandemic flu have been confirmed in Moldova so far. A man aged 50 has died.
