The couples from the municipality of Chisinau who since March 2020 until present celebrated the 50th, 60th or 70th anniversary of the marriage day can file applications to get 1,000 lei in financial support, regardless of the event celebration date, IPN reports.

In a press release, the Chisinau City Hall noted the decision to extend the period was taken by the local public authorities following requests from older persons who said that they didn’t manage to submit applications to the City Hall owing to the COVID-19 restrictions.

Applications to celebrate persons who turned 100 years are also accepted. The persons from the capital city and its suburban settlements who in the period turn 100 and up will get by 5,000 lei in aid.

During the pandemic, the Chisinau City Hall stopped holding festivities to celebrate wedding anniversaries, but accepts applications from couples sent by mail or email. The necessary documents are later examined and the financial support is paid through post offices.
