Chisinau mayor happy with performances at August holidays, angry with mess left
Chisinau's mayor Dorin Chirtoaca has appreciated the organization of the artistic events dedicated to Our Language and the 50th anniversary of the Classical Writers Alley. However he is disappointed with the work of municipal enterprises responsible for keeping the city clean, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“The City Hall sings and dances on the Great National Assembly Square, but nobody evacuates the garbage from the city's districts,” he told the City Hall sitting on Tuesday.
“If the garbage car does not have access, it should go to other places, not to breech the schedule,” the Autosalubritate enterprise's manager, Tudor Maniv, has accused the water supplier SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau” of digging in a number of places.
In reply, the general mayor demanded the municipal enterprises to cooperate. “If we work as we did during the national holidays, then we all should say farewell to the European prospect of this city and country,” the mayor said.
Dorin Chirtoaca believes the holiday manifestations have been better organized than last year.
The Culture Direction chief Lucia Culev says there were misunderstandings between singers and the police, which did not allow them to park next to the stage to unload heavy equipment.
The mayor has said he will expressly instruct in decisions that the artists may benefit from such privileges at coming manifestations.
Also this year, the artistic events dedicated to the Independence Day (27 August) were organized by the central authorities in Chisinau, while Our Language Holiday – by the local ones.
