The National Theater “Mihai Eminescu” is staging Dumitru Matkovski's famous play “Life Tree” in partnership with Edelweiss Foundation. In a recent meeting, Edelweiss founder Vlad Plahotniuc and the Moldovan poet, prose writer and dramatist Dumitru Matkovski decided to develop the relation that they established by new collaborations, including printing a new poetry book, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communique from the Foundation's PR Department.
“Your work accompanied me at all the stages of my life. I'm honored to be able to contribute, through the Edelweiss Foundation, to the inheritance that we will leave to the future generations, including by the support provided to the staging of the play “Life Tree”. The poem “Rejoice” is one of my favorite poems,” Vlad Plahotniuc said in the meeting.
Dumitru Matkovski expressed his confidence that the play “Life Tree” will be a nice present for the theatergoers, especially because it hasn't been performed since 1986. He said the play in 1982 won the top prize of one of the most prestigious international festivals in Russia.
In the meeting, Vlad Plahotni presented Dumitru Matkovski with a volume of writings about Bessarabia, published in 1903. He stated that the poet's poem “Bessarabia” was recited for the first time in 1987.
Dumitru Matkovski thanked Vlad Plahotniuc for the support, saying he will continue to write poems and novels. They agreed to meet at the premiere of the play “Life Tree” in November.
