In a world where natural resources are increasingly limited, it is everyone’s responsibility to act responsibly and adopt sustainable practices in their daily lives. Reducing resource consumption, recycling waste, protecting biodiversity and fighting pollution are just a few of the steps that everyone can take to protect the environment, runs the Ministry of Environment’s message on Earth Day, which is marked on April 22, IPN reports.
To help protect the environment, the authorities recommend the people to opt for renewable energy, such as solar, wind and hydro power, to reduce pollution and dependence on fossil fuels. It is recommended to choose organically grown products, without pesticides and chemical fertilizers, to protect soil and water.
“Recycle and reuse materials to reduce waste and conserve natural resources. Use sustainable transport, public transport or bicycles in order to reduce carbon emissions. Protect and restore natural habitats to preserve biodiversity. Consume responsibly, choosing sustainable products and reducing excessive consumption. Support afforestation and greening of areas. Report environmental issues when you encounter them,” urges the Ministry of Environment.
In the Republic of Moldova, the Earth Day has been celebrated since 1990. This date aims to draw attention to environmental degradation, the effects of pollution and to stimulate actions that everyone can take to help preserve nature.
