The images of 20 Polish contemporary architectural works will be displayed at an exhibition entitled “Polska. Architecture” that will be mounted at the Technical University of Moldova in Chisinau on February 18 – March 31. The exhibits include new or recently revitalized buildings, IPN reports.
According to the Polish Institute in Bucharest, there will be displayed sketches, drawings and photo reports showing constructions in the context of historical events important for Poland, reminding simultaneously of the work of the personalities to whom these were dedicated. “The architecture in Poland is developing. We build new philharmonics, operas, concert halls and gymnasiums and other large buildings that will be used for different purposes. Owing to investments, we erect remarkable constructions that are selected at contests and awarded in the world,” said Agnieszka Skieterska, director of the Polish Institute in Bucharest.
The organizers said that each of the exhibits represents a separate chapter in the history of the modern architecture of Poland. The exhibition will include images of the European Solidarity Center of Gdańsk, which is dedicated to the legendary social movement “Solidarity” whose actions led to the fall of communism in Poland and Eastern Europe, of the atypical construction of the Philharmonic “Mieczysław Karłowicz” of Szczecin, which is recognized as one of the most beautiful concert halls in Europe, and of the Gdańsk Shakespeare Theater with its exceptional interior.
The exhibit “Polska. Architecture” was staged by the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in cooperation with the monthly journal “Architektura – murator”. It will be hosted by the block of the Technical University’s Faculty and Urbanism and Architecture, which is situated at 39 Dacia Blvd. The event opens at 11am.
