Initiative group asks Government to make public its position on Palanca
A group of young persons representing the Civic Coalition for Democratic and Transparent Governance Wednesday picketed the building of the Government, demanding that the authorities make known their stance as regards the signing over of the land in Palanca village, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The members of the Coalition expressed their indignation at the fact that the text of the agreement recognizing the ownership right has not been yet published. The agreement was signed by Moldovan Prime Minister Vlad Filat and former Ukrainian Premier Yulia Timoshenko.
“A commission is already negotiating the transfer of the land with the Ukrainian party. It is very interesting who will sign this document on behalf of Moldova,” said one of the protesters, Radu Busila. He also said that if the land in Palanca is ceded, they will lodge applications with the ECHR and seek damages.
The protesters brought barbed wire with them, saying it represents the separation of territories.
In an agreement ratified by the Parliament in 2001, Chisinau pledged to transfer 7.7 kilometers of the Odessa – Reni route and the land located near Palanca to Kiev. Instead, Ukraine gave Moldova 450 meters of its territory, allowing it to have access to the Danube.
