Ion Ceban: We realize inconveniences caused by traffic jams, but cannot stop repairs

The municipal authorities’ solution for managing the traffic jams that appear on the streets of Chisinau as a result of repair works executed in parts of the city is for traffic officers of the Ministry of the Interior to direct traffic. Mayor general of Chisinau Ion Ceban said the municipality cannot abandon the repair of streets, while the situations that are unpleasant for drivers will be managed “manually”, IPN reports.

“Significant repair works were launched today and these cover a portion of Albișoara St, which is essential and fundamental for doubling traffic from Ștefan cel Mare Blvd and that is at the limit of other very important intersections that cause congestion in the municipality of Chisinau. We apologize for these inconveniences, but this street hasn’t been repaired for tens of years,” Ion Ceban stated in the talk show “Moldova Live” on Moldova 1 TV channel.

The mayor noted the situation could worsen further when Ion Creangă St in Buiucani district of Chisinau is under repair.

“Creangă St, which is another important artery, will start to be repaired in several weeks. We are trying to manage the situation in a manual regime together with the Ministry of the Interior. We realize the inconveniences, but we have to do repair works,” stated Ion Ceban.

The mayor apologized to the citizens of the city who have to stay in traffic jams. “We must work, must build, must go on and we do it for us.”
