Irish foundation donates €50,000 to Moldova to fight COVID-19

The Irish foundation Siol will offer €50,000 to the Government of Moldova to help it contain the COVID-19 pandemic. The money is donated for purchasing ventilators, masks, protective equipment and for providing assistance to families with children in situations of risk, IPN reports.

The financial support will be managed by the public association “Partnerships for Each Child” that, together with the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, will identify the necessities and priorities of the healthcare and social protection systems, says a press release of the association.

Siol director Edward Dunne assured that the foundation will continue to offer assistance to Moldova in developing alternative programs and services for looking after persons with disabilities when the crisis is overcome. “Realizing the difficulties faced by Moldova, we decided to come with additional support that we hope will help the Government fight the COVID-19 pandemic,” stated Edward Dunne.

Currently, with support from Siol, the public association “Partnerships for Each Child” implements a project that is designed to support the process of deinstitutionalizing girls with disabilities who are in residential care at the Placement Center in Hânceşti, launched by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection.
