Lenunta Burghila: I want to enter Parliament in order to help people, not to sing

Independent candidate Elena Burghila-Leonte said she wants to enter the legislative body in order to help the people fulfill their ambitions, implement socioeconomic and cultural development projects and improve the living conditions. The singer started her election campaign with the slogan: “We must not survive, but start living decently”. She is the only election runner who has a campaign song, which is titled “Let's Develop the Country”, Info-Prim Neo reports. Lenunta Burghila said she traveled a lot through Moldova's villages and saw very talented people who have a rich inner world, but live in poor conditions. She stressed that if she enters Parliament, she will plead for offering professional development opportunities and increasing budget-funded employees' salaries and will contribute to the protection and development of the cultural-spiritual patrimony. The singer avoided saying if she will form an alliance in the legislature, but stated she will support the ideas that will be aimed at developing the country. She also said the head of state should be a famous, apolitical person. Elena Burghila's emblem represents a boat with white sails, which, according to the candidate, means movement through culture and art. The singer said she funds her election campaign with money that she earned singing at wedding parties, christening ceremonies and other festivities. She sought help from the people in launching an advertisement on television. Elena Burghila-Leonte is under Number 34 in the ballot. Between 2005 and 2009, Lenuta Burghila had managed the project “Caravela Culturii” (“Caravel of Culture”), which was financed by the Communist administration.
