The people in need can go to the social worker of the local town hall and write a request for social aid and for aid during the heating period. The average payment is 685 lei for families with one child, 841 lei for families with two children, 1115 lei for families with three or more children and 690 lei for families of one adult member with children. In the cases of families consisting only of pensioners of disable people, the income from their farming lands won’t be considered in the assessment of their assets. In the near future, some household appliances like the TV or the fridge will be removed from the lists of goods indicating wealth, if these have been bought in previous years. The Government’s plan of actions stipulates the gradual replacement of the nominative compensations system with the system of social assistance based on verifying the real income and assessing the needs of the applicants and the increase of the minimum guaranteed level of income for vulnerable families.
