Moldova and EBRD sign agreement for third tranche of Solid Waste Project

The projects implemented in Moldova with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) were discussed at a meeting of Prime Minister Dorin Recean and representatives of the financial institution, which nalos involved Minister of Finance Petru Rotaru. EBRD Vice President Matteo Patrone and Petru Rotaru signed an agreement for receiving the third tranche of financing for the Moldova Solid Waste Project, to the value of €10.3 million, IPN reports.

The third tranche will go to finance investments in Waste Management Zone 1 in the south of the country. This is part of the €25 million loan provided to the Republic of Moldova in 2023 by the EBRD to support critical improvements in its solid waste management system in three key regions of the country.

The EBRD Permanent Representative Office in Chisinau was opened in 1996. Since its presence in Moldova, the EBRD has financed 173 projects worth over €2.3 billion. Currently, 68 projects to the value of 1.2 billion are active in Moldova in the financial-banking, road and railway infrastructure, energy, agriculture, waste management and other sectors.
