More products from Ukraine transported via Moldova to be exempted from ANSA control

The grain, rapeseed and sunflower seeds from Ukraine, transiting Moldova, will be exempted from the controls of the National Food Safety Agency (ANSA) until the end of this year. A draft law that provides for the exemption from the ANSA control of these goods transported in transit regime was registered in Parliament, IPN reports.

Bill author Alexandr Trubca said that this initiative is designed to improve trade between Ukraine and the European Union. Thus, according to the National Food Safety Agency, within the Moldova-EU Sanitary and Phytosanitary Sub-committee, the European side raised the issue of transportation of goods of non-animal origin and the crowdedness created at the border of the Republic of Moldova, both on entry and exit, as a result of the increase in the flow of goods from Ukraine.

Following discussions at technical level with the European side, the National Food Safety Agency was recommended to implement the European Union practices of managing the flows of food and feed of non-animal origin transiting the territory of the Republic of Moldova, which implies giving up the official border controls performed by ANSA.

According to the author, since the abovementioned flow of goods is destined for Black Sea ports, it is considered that this provision should be applied exclusively to the southern border crossing points destined for the southwest.

The draft law is to be examined and adopted by Parliament.
