New members of Supervisory Board: “We want to do good things”

The six new members of the Supervisory Board (SB) of Teleradio-Moldova say the state of affairs at the public broadcaster will improve in several months. The first meeting of the SB in a new composition could take place by the end of this year, Info-Prim Neo reports. After confirmed by the Parliament to the posts, the six new members told the reporters that they will work to push the national public broadcaster out of the image and credibility crisis. “We have serious objections and will present them at the first meeting. We do not intend to divide the public broadcaster's employees into ours and yours. We will make sure that the people are informed correctly and equidistantly,” said Aurelia Peru-Balan, a member of the SB. Eugeniu Rybka, who is a jurist by profession, said he will contribute to the creation of viable mechanisms for implementing the Broadcasting Code's stipulations concerning the social and political pluralism, which is now not taken into account. “The responsibility for the social and political pluralism must be borne not only by the administration, but also by the persons working for the company,” he said. “I cannot say that this year the Supervisory Board worked well. Many problems have not been dealt with as after Boris Focsa was named Minister of Culture on September 25, the Board did not work at all,” SB president Mariana Slapac told Info-Prim Neo. The new composition of the SB will be validated immediately after the Parliament's decision to confirm the six new members is published in the Official Gazette. The Board's first meeting may take place not sooner than on December 29. The new SB members are: Eugeniu Rybka, Aurelia Peru-Balan, Viorica Cucereanu, Vitalie Tapes, Viorica Mesina-Prodan and Raisa Lozinschi-Hadei.
