New type of electronic signature will be accessible from mobile phone

A new type of electronic signature will be accessible from the mobile phone as a result of the development of the EVOSign service. A decision to this effect was approved by the Cabinet on Wednesday, IPN reports.

The authentication and signing-in tool will be launched as an advanced electronic signature and will allow the identification of the signatory and could be used in most of the relations with the state.

The EVOSign service will implement remote identification methods, thus increasing access to digital services for all the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, including those who are outside the country. “We should take care of the experience of users from the diaspora so that it is easy for them to access public services,” said Prime Minister Dorin Recean.

According to statistical data for 2023, around 250,000 people have a qualified electronic signature and digital identity, which represents less than 10% of the adult population of the Republic of Moldova.
