Nine persons dead, 72 injured in traffic accidents in five nonworking days
Nine persons were killed and 72 injured in 49 road accidents that happened during the last five nonworking days, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the Traffic Police Division.
A VAZ-2105 skidded on a road in Stefan Voda district on August 27 and went straight into a tree. The 28-year-old driver died on the spot, while his mother died in the hospital several hours later.
Two persons, one of whom a police officer, were killed when a BMW collided head-on with a Mercedes on the Chisinau-Cimislia-Taraclia road later the same day.
The body of a 50-year-old man was discovered on the roadside in Domulgeni village, Floresti, on August 28. The police established the man was struck by a Volkswagen Golf. The driver was identified shortly afterwards.
Another two car accidents that resulted in deaths occurred in Soroca district on August 29. The driver of a motorcycle MT-10 lost control of the vehicle while going through Cainarii-Vechi village and crashed it into a fence. The 22-year-old driver died immediately. The same day, a BYD F3 car skidded on the Soroca-Arionesti-Moghiliov Podolsk road and overturned. The driver was killed.
A 19-year-old girl was hit by a VAZ 2108 car on a road that connects Sarata-Noua and Iargara villages of Leova district on August 30. She was inebriated and fell asleep on the roadway.
On August 31, a child of six was killed, while his sister aged 9 and his parents were seriously injured in a car accident near Floresti town. The minibus in which they were traveling made a U-turn and overturned when speeding.
