The Orhei District Council voted during an extraordinary meeting to authorize District Head Dinu Țurcanu to sign a twinning agreement with Iași, Romania’s most populous and second largest county.

The initiative belongs to Costel Alexe, president of Iași County. According to Țurcanu, Alexe will be invited over to Orhei to conclude the agreement in a special ceremony.

The twinning agreement provides for extensive social and economic cooperation, as well as exchange of experience and best practices.

“We are interested in offering opportunities to representatives from various areas, such as culture and science, representatives of the business community, agricultural producers and not only, both from Iași County and Orhei District, to get to know each other, engage in experience exchanges and establish mutually beneficial partnerships and cooperation relations”, stated Dinu Țurcanu.
