Over 11,000 sites to be included in National Archaeological Register

More than 11,000 archaeological sites situated in the country will be added to the National Archaeological Register and will benefit from special protection. A draft law to this effect was given a first reading by Parliament, IPN reports.

The bill was drafted by the Ministry of Culture. According to the author, the use of this register will help keep records of archaeological sites, delimit and protect them. The information contained in this document will be taken into account when developing landscaping and urban plans of localities in order to prevent the destruction of archaeological sites.

The draft law is to be given a second reading.
