Over 15,500 persons asked for allocation for trips by public units of transport
More than 15,500 persons asked for the monthly allocation of 70 lei during less than one week after the approval by the Chisinau Municipal Council of the regulations concerning the payment of nominative compensations for trips by public means of transport, deputy mayor of Chisinau Nistor Grozavu said Monday, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
Most of the pensioners who submitted applications to the social assistance divisions asked that the 70 lei be provided together with the pension. The allocation will be paid from the end of October.
Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca demanded debureaucratizing this process in the settlements that form part of the municipality, asking the mayors to accept themselves the three documents presented by the pensioners, not wait until employees of the Social Assistance Service come. Moreover, Chirtoaca instructed that Xerox machines be brought to the five local social assistance divisions so that the pensioners could use them.
The compensations are provided to persons with a monthly income lower than 1,450 lei following the rise in trolleybus and bus stations to 2 lei and 3 lei from October 1. The pensioners were excluded from the list of persons who travel by public means of transporter free of charge. The given decision aroused the dissatisfaction of the pensioners. During several days, they staged protests, but suspended them until October 8.
