Not all the citizens are conscious and obey the restrictions imposed by the authorities to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The Ministry of Home Affairs recorded over 1,800 calls by which the authorities are informed about the persons who should self-isolate, but went out. In public transport stations, the citizens do not respect the allowed number of passengers. Some of them even behave violently towards police officers and drivers, Minister of Home Affairs Pavel Voicu was quoted by IPN as saying in a press briefing.
The minister noted that over 9,000 police offices are daily involved in the measures taken to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus. So far, 54 police officers contracted the virus. One of them is in a grave, but stable state. The others are in a medium state or suffer from mild forms of infection and are being treated at the Ministry of Home Affairs’ hospital.
Pavel Voicu also said that 54 business entities that ignored the bans on trade imposed by the authorities got contravention reports and risk being fined.
