Pairs from 33 countries to compete in World Junior II Standard Champs

About 60 pairs of dancers from 33 countries announced their participation in the World Junior II Standard Dance Sport Championships and the International Dance Sport Competition “Chisinau Open 2011” that will take place at the Palace of the Republic in Chisinau on October 15-16, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a news conference on October 12, Petru Gozun, chairman of the National Dance Sport Federation and head of the Dance Sport Club “Codreanca”, said that at the World Champs this year Moldova will be represented by two pairs – Alina Milinceanu − Alexandru Barca, and Diana Cojocar − Marius Valcu. Both of the pairs have danced for about 7 years. They were selected at an internal competition that involved seven pairs of dancers. Petru Gozun said the Moldovan pairs will face stiff competition from the dancers from Russia, Germany, Denmark and Italy, but there chances that Moldova will win the champs. The championships and “Chisinau Open 2011” will be juried by referees from 20 countries. Among the organizers of the events are the Chisinau City Hall, the National Dance Sport Federation and the Dance Sport Club “Codreanca”. Moldova has organized champs since 1994.
