As many as 100,000 rapid tests for detecting SARS-CoV-2 where distributed to public health facilities all over the country so as to strengthen the capacities for identifying the virus among the population. The tests were bought in the framework of the World Bank’s Moldova Emergency COVID-19 Response Project, IPN reports.
According to the Ministry of Heath, Labor and Social Protection, the tests will be used if the person has symptoms of COVID-19 or for patients who had been in contact with a person confirmed with the infection. The rapid tests can also be used for persons in a closed or semi-closed institution with a possible hotbed of infection or for the other persons in a group where a person tested positive through the PCR method.
Specialists say rapid testing should be applied during five-seven days of the appearance of the symptoms. After this period, the resists of the test can be incorrect. Rapid testing will enable to obtain results in a relatively short period of time and will increase the capacity to manage the cases and to take rapid public health measures and monitor the contacts.
