A number of 30 public buildings, including 14 district hospitals and 16 higher education institutions, will be made more energy efficient. The Cabinet approved the initiation of negotiations on the credit facility agreement with the French Development Agency for the implementation of the project "Initiative for the Development of Sustainable Public Infrastructure through Energy Efficiency Renovations (INSPIREE)," IPN reports.
Cristina Pereteatcu, secretary of state of the Ministry of Energy, said that the INSPIREE project is to be implemented during five years. The main beneficiaries are the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education and Research. The main goal is to improve energy efficiency in public buildings.
Under the Memorandum of Understanding, signed on October 17, 2023, the INSPIREE project is financed through a €30 million preferential loan from the French Development Agency and a €38.7 million grant offered by the Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW). Moldova will provide €4.3 million.
The credit facility agreement stipulates a grace period of 6 years. The loan maturity date will be agreed during the negotiations and the interest rate will be set at the disbursement stage.
