14th Festival of Ethnic Communities brought together dozens of organizations

The over 30 ethnic groups living in Moldova presented their culture and traditions at the 14th Festival of Ethnic Communities that was held in the central park of Chisinau on September 21. The event organized by the Interethnic Relations Bureau, in cooperation with the Chisinau City Hall, involved over 80 ethic and cultural organizations that represented the over 30 ethnic groups of Moldova, IPN reports.

Representatives of the ethnic communities prepared dishes, presented dances and their national costumes. There were mounted exhibitions of books, decorative items, paintings and handicrafts. Those attending were able to see performances by ethnic and cultural organizations, ensembles from the central districts of Moldova and from abroad and by the brass band of the Culture Division of the Chisinau City Hall.

According to the organizers, the objectives of the festival are to promote the traditions of the national minorities, to develop intercultural dialogue and to strengthen the relations of friendship between representatives of different ethnic groups living in Moldova.

Held between September 14 and 28, the Festival of Ethnic Communities includes the staging of concerts and thematic exhibitions in all the country’s districts.
