The average gross nominal monthly nominal average wage of an employee in the fourth quarter of 2024 was 15 024 lei, up 12.1% from the fourth quarter of 2023. The average number of wage earners also increased - by 0.6%, compared with the fourth quarter of 2023, IPN reports.
Data from the National Bureau of Statistics show that the highest wages were recorded in information and communications, financial and insurance activities, production and supply of electricity and heat, gas, hot water and air conditioning. On the other hand, the lowest wages were paid to employees in accommodation and food services, agriculture, forestry, fishing and the arts, recreation and leisure.
In the budget sector, in the fourth quarter of 2024, the average monthly wage earnings amounted to 12 849.5 lei in the fourth quarter of 2024, 10.6% more than in the fourth quarter of 2023, and in the real sector - 15 776.9 lei, 12.5% more than in the fourth quarter of 2023.
The average number of employees increased by 0.6% in Q4 2024 compared to Q4 2023. Significant increases were recorded in accommodation and food service activities, administrative and support service activities - with, water distribution, sanitation, waste management, and remediation activities. The largest decreases in the average number of employees in Q4 2024, compared to Q4 2023, were in mining and quarrying, agriculture, forestry and fishing, real estate transactions.
