17-year-old faces 10 years in jail in axe strike case

A 53-year-old villager from Biesti, Orhei district, was hospitalized with nearly lethal injuries after a fight, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a press release of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the victim and his son were heading home when they encountered a drunken 17-year-old boy. The man criticized him and, as a result, got hit in the head with an axe. He was hospitalized in the intensive care ward. The prosecutors took into consideration the attacker was a minor and started a prosecution for severe bodily damage, which could see the 17-year-old jailed for 3 to 10 years.
