19-year-old sentenced to 21 years in prison

At the age of only 19, a man was sentenced to 21 years in jail for murder attempt, rape and robbery, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the Prosecutor General's Office. While under the influence of alcohol, the man, who is a resident of Soroca district, entered the house of a 77-year-old woman and threatened her with beating if she did not give him 5,000 lei. As the old woman refused, saying she did not have money, he raped her. Afterward, he tied her up and set the house on fire. The woman managed to get out of the burning house and alerted the neighbors. The sentence can be appealed to a higher court.
