262 applicants have purchased apartments through the “First Home” Government Program, which has been in operation since March 26. Two other loan requests have been granted and 17 are undergoing examination. Out of the total number of loans issued, 14 have been granted to public service employees, under the clauses of “First Home 2”, i.e. the state will compensate half of the loan.

According to a press release from the Government, 121 million lei were given out with the collective help of the five banks participating in the program, and the sum of state guarantees rises to about 61 million lei. Total value of the residences purchased is over 140 million lei. Most beneficiaries are young families, and about one third are single youth, with an age average of 31.

The program provides special conditions for families with children. The state will cover 10% of the cost of the real estate for families with one child, 25% for families with two children, 50% for families with three children, and for those with four children and more, the Government will cover the entire sum, families having to pay the interest only. The state has allotted 20 million lei for subsidies through the “First Home” program this year.
