Twenty doctors and medical assistants and seven paramedics on November 1 leave for the Lețcani modular hospital in Iasi County to offer assistance to Romanian medical workers. They will replace the 22 doctors and ten paramedics from Moldova who had worked alongside Romanian counterparts since October 18 and completed their duties, IPN reports.
Minister of Health Ala Nemerenco said the effort forms part of the humanitarian mission to help mates in Romania in the currently rather critical pandemic situation. “I wish you an easy trip. Be productive and save as many human lives as you can. This is very important, as is to be now near Romania as this country offered us the most considerable support and has been near us since the start of the pandemic by the aid transmitted to the Republic of Moldova,” she said, noting that the leaving team of medical workers was formed on a voluntary basis.
Romania’s Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova Daniel Ioniță expressed his gratitude for the gesture of solidary shown by the medical personnel. According to him, Romania is going through a bad patch amid a growing number of cases of COVID-19 and of deaths and Moldova a’s assistance is substantial. The frontline health workers of the first mission worked together with their mates from Lețcani and saved human loves. “I assure you that your gesture will not be forgotten,” stated Daniel Ioniță.
Minister of the Interior Ana Revenco said that Romania needs assistance and Moldova can now lend a hand and she therefore feels very honored. Romania has been near the Republic of Moldova since the very first days of the pandemic and during the crisis provided protective equipment, teams of doctors and paramedics from Romania, who helped Moldovans counterparts to fight the pandemic on the spot. The pandemic is also a good lesson of solidarity. “Dear doctors and paramedics, you go on a noble mission that poses risks to your life and health. We wish you courage and will be waiting for you home,” noted the minister.
The second team of doctors and paramedics will work in Romania until November 14.
