The Moldsilva Forestry Agency will put up for sale 28,000 fir trees grown especially for the winter holidays. The trees will become available later this week, Info-Prim Neo reports. Petru Rotaru, the head of the Agency's Forest Stock Division, said the firs are 1 – 1.5 meters in height and cost 36 lei a meter at economic entities' nurseries. On the market, the price of the fir trees will be set by the sellers as there is no regulated profit margin. Last year, the firs were sold for 100-150 lei on average and got cheaper after the New Year. The fine for illegally cutting a fir is 1,000 lei. Petru Rotaru stressed in this connection that it is cheaper to buy a fir tree than cut it illegally.
