The Ministry of the Environment has announced a contest titled “Clean River from Village to Village” within which there will be awarded prizes of 5,000 to 30,000 lei to the communities that will best clean the rivers going through the settlement, Info-Prim Neo reports. The aim of the contest is to improve the state of the rivers and springs and to clean the areas around them. The contest is open to any settlement that achieved special results in cleaning the local water resources. It is organized with the support of the local services of the central environment authority, the local public authorities, companies, public institutions, and civil society. The criteria for assessing the participants include the length of the cleaned section of the river, the state of the areas around the river, the planting of trees and bushes near the river, the cleaning of the springs that supply the rivers, placement of signs banning litter throwing, and others. The winners will be announced until April 1. The money awards will be allocated from the National Ecological Fund. The contest opens on March 22, when it is marked the World Water Day, and closes on June 5.
