A batch of 32,760 Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine doses was shipped to Chisinau today. This is the eight consignment of the lot of 700,830 doses purchased by the Ministry of Health through the Foreign Assistance Programs Management Office, IPN reports.
In a press release, the Ministry says the doses will be distributed proportionally to all the vaccination units in Moldova. So far, the National Public Health Agency received 174,330 Pfizer doses bought by the Ministry of Health.
The purchase was made as part of the Health Component of the Emergency COVID-19 Response Project to support micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, in accordance with the framework lending agreement between Moldova and the Council of Europe Development Bank that was signed on July 29, 2020.
Moldova by now received 400,140 Pfizer vaccine doses, including through the COVAX Platform and as donations from Romania.
As many as 765,025 persons from Moldova got vaccinated with both of the doses to date. 1 375 981 vaccine doses have been administered in Moldova so far.
