As many as 36 sheep were slaughtered by wolves at a sheepfold situated not far from Taraclia village of Causeni district. The owners assessed the damage at 40,000 lei, IPN reports.
Contacted by the phone, the sheepfold’s owner Valentina Versteac said the wolves visited the village the previous years too, but there were never killed so many animals. The villagers are scared. They are afraid for their life and for the life of their domestic animals.
The head of the Causeni Forestry Company Nicolae Munteanu considers the pack of wolves came from Ukraine. The people cannot kill them as the wolves were included in the Red Book.
