400 Moldovans to take part in World Festival of Youth and Students SOCHI 2017

As many as 400 young people from Moldova, 300 of whom from the right side of the Nistru River and 100 from the left side, will be chosen to take part in the 19th International Festival of Youth and Students SOCHI. About 2,000 applications have been received so far, IPN quoted President of Moldova Igor Dodon as saying at a news conference.

According to President Dodon, the 400 young people will be chosen by an organizational committee during October 14-22, 2017.

The program of the 19th International Festival envisions the creation of different interactive platforms for group discussions, open conferences centering on youth policies and international relations, sports contests and a series of cultural and creation activities.

The festival will involve 20,000 young people aged between 18 and 35 from over 150 countries. These will include leaders of different youth organizations, young journalists, athletes, people of science, young university lecturers, leaders of student organizations, etc. The costs related to accommodation and meals will be covered by the hosts.

In the conference, Igor Dodon said the best 100 young graduates from Moldova’s districts next week will be invited to the Presidential Building to be handed over diplomas for very good standing. Besides, these will be offered to be enrolled at different education institutions, including in Russia.

“There are several hundred budget-funded places for Russian education institutions. We will offer possibilities of studying in the country and abroad. We will also include these persons in a staff reserve database of the presidential office and will follow where they study and in what areas so as to later invite them to work here,” stated Igor Dodon.

On July 18, under the auspices of the President, there will be held the first Youth Festival “Youth Generation” that will end with a concert in the central square of Chisinau.

According to President Dodon, the concert will feature the bands MOT and A-Studio, Randi and other famous singers. The concert will be staged as part of the national campaign “I Love Moldova”.
