401 legislative initiatives submitted to Parliament in 2024

A number of 401 legislative initiatives were submitted to Parliament last year. The MPs designed half of them - 194 initiatives. As many as 157 legislative proposals were formulated by the Government, 33 were presented by the head of state, and 5 by the People's Assembly of Gagauzia. IPN reports, with reference to a press release of the Parliament.

The Party of Action and Solidarity in 2024 submitted 134 legislative initiatives, which is about 33% of the total number of drafts registered in Parliament. The head of the Legal Commission for Appointments and Immunities Veronica Rosca presented the largest number of legislative initiatives – 12 bills. She is followed by the head of the Commission on Economy, Budget and Finance Radu Marian with 10 bills and the head of the Commission on Agriculture and Food Industry Alexandr Trubca – 8 legislative initiatives.

In the period, the Bloc of Communists and Socialists submitted 45 legislative initiatives. Of these, most initiatives were proposed by the head of the Public Finance Control Commission Tatiana Kunetski - 15 group initiatives and five individual initiatives. MPs Petru Burduja and Inga Sibova were the authors of 18 and 16 group legislative initiatives, respectively. Also, independent and non-affiliated MPs submitted 5 legislative initiatives.

Of the 401 legislative initiatives submitted, 296 were adopted, which is 74%. Three bills were rejected, and 94 are under examination.

Under the provisions of the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova, legislative initiatives can be proposed by the MPs, the President of the Republic of Moldova, the Government and the People's Assembly of the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia.
