45 economic entities fined for not removing snow

As many as 45 reports that involved fines were drawn up against economic entities operating in the municipality of Chisinau since last December for not clearing the areas around their head office of snow and for not breaking the ice there. General Police Commissariat spokesman Adrian Jovmir has told Info-Prim Neo hat the fines imposed totaled about 13,000 lei. The fined economic entities can challenge the penalties in court. If the court upholds the decision, they will have to pay the fine within 30 days. Until this year, the police officers hadn’t been empowered to impose fines on the companies that avoided cleaning the areas near their offices. According to mayor general of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca, about 60% of the economic entities in Chisinau didn’t honor their obligation to clean the areas from snow. The private individuals are fined 400 - 800 lei, while the economic entities – 1,000 - 2,000 lei. More than 20 persons in Chisinau municipality needed medical care after sustaining fractures when falling on ice during the last several days.
