500 Chisinau families receive Easter food packages

A number of 500 socially deprived families from the five districts of Chisinau received food packages offered by a company on the occasion of Easter. The action was organized by the Chisinau City Hall, Info-Prim Neo reports. The packages contained pound cakes, Easter bread, eggs, pasta, canned pea, vegetal oil, sugar and other products needed on Easter. Fifty-five persons living in Centru district, including invalids, former deportees and political detainees, were given by a lump sum of 100 lei, said the district's head Angela Caraman, adding that the money was allocated from the fund of the district head's office. In other districts, there were provided food packages, but no money. “The products were purchased at lower prices. Traders working at the Central Market sold us these products at practically the cost price,” said Chisinau councilor Mihail Ciobanu, who heads the company that donated food products to the value of about 30,000 lei. Also, the Chisinau City Hall provided by 350 lei to about 3,000 elderly persons and 1,000 invalids of the first and second disability degree from its reserve fund.
