Six illegal workers from Moldova have been arrested by immigration police in Daventry, central England, and will be expelled after serving 6 months in a jail, writes a local newspaper “Northampton Chronicle & Echo”, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
The police were seeking for a fugitive at the address where the Moldovans stood, on July 15, but discovered those ones had fake Czech passports.
A court from Northampton found the Moldovans guilty of using fake acts, these days, and sentenced them to 1 year in jail. Judge Richard Bray also recommended they be deported when released at the halfway stage of their sentences.
He added: "I appreciate you all come from Moldova, a country I am told, of great poverty and you regard the UK as a dreamland. But that cannot be my concern.”
"It is not the point you did not come to this country to commit criminal offenses. The point is you were here using false documents.”
Tony Davies, representing four of the defendants, said: "If it had not been for the Soviet annexation of Moldova and the border being 50 miles to the east, they would all be here legally.” "It's a historical anomaly that it is not part of the EU. They all came here to work and better themselves."
