7 of 19 independents spent no money in election campaign

The financial reports submitted to the Central Election Commission ten days before the elections show that 7 of the 19 independent candidates did not spend money on the campaign, Info-Prim Neo reports. Businessman Gabriel Stati spent the largest sum – about 1.5 million lei. He is followed by former Minister of Defense Valeriu Plesca with less than 40,000 lei spent, and Victor Stepaniuc with slightly over 22,000 lei. Alexandru Demian received 11,000 lei in his electoral fund, but, as Elena Burghila-Leonte, Vitalie Taulean, Oleg Cazac, Oleg Bolotnicov, Romeo Cereteu, and Vasile Lupascu, spent no money in the election campaign. The financial reports are lodged with the central electoral authority once in two weeks. In the current election campaign, the parties are allowed to spend up to 21.6 million lei, while the independents – up to 2.16 million lei.
