The price of a number of drugs for treating cardiovascular diseases will be compensated in the amount of 70% on average from November 1, up about 20%. This is provided in a joint ordinance made by the Ministry of Health and the National Health Insurance Company, IPN reports.

Under the document, 11 names of medicines used to treat hypertension were moved from the list of drugs compensated in the amount of 50% to that of drugs compensated in the amount of 70%. These are: amlodipinum, bisoprololum, enalaprilum, indapamidum, lisinoprilum, losartanum, ramiprilum, spironolactonum, torasemidum, verapamilum, and metoprololum.

This modification is aimed at increasing the access of persons with hypertension to compensated drugs. These medicines are released by all the drugstores that signed contracts with the National Health Insurance Company, based on prescriptions from family doctors.

A sum of 4 million lei will be allocated from the mandatory health insurance funds for 2015 for covering the additional costs by this yearend.

As many as 87 common international names of drugs are now compensated with money from these funds. Nineteen of these are intended for treating cardiovascular diseases.
