A number of 720 persons working in the healthcare system had been tested for COVID-19 during the past seven days. Those confirmed with the virus among healthcare workers so far include 316 doctors, 530 nurses and over 400 auxiliary personnel members. National Public Health Agency Nicolae Furtună told a news conference that a large part of the infected medical staff hadn’t been directly involved in the treatment of persons with the novel coronavirus, IPN reports.
According to Nicolae Furtună, the large number of infections detected in the healthcare sector is due to the massive testing of medical personnel. Almost 5,000 healthcare workers have been tested by now and 1,252 of them tested positive, while 11 infected persons died.
42% of the infected medical staff recovered and returned to work, sad the director of the National Public Health Agency.
