73 million euro will be invested in energy renovation of 30 public buildings, including 16 higher education buildings and 14 district hospitals. The government today approved the signing of the Credit Agreement with the French Development Agency for the implementation of the project "Initiative for the Development of Sustainable Public Infrastructure through Energy Efficiency Renovations (INSPIREE)", IPN reports.
Most of the educational buildings to be renovated are in the capital, while hospitals are located in Chisinau, Balti and eight districts. The project consists in improving the comfort and functionality of public buildings, the renovations will ensure good conditions for students, patients or civil servants.
"By implementing energy efficiency measures, the aim is to reduce energy consumption in public buildings, for significant savings in the public budget. It also aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions," says the Energy Ministry.
Financing will be provided by a loan from the French Development Agency (AFD), and a grant and project agreement will be signed with the German Development Bank "Credit Institute for Reconstruction" (KfW).
The project will be implemented by the Enhanced Energy Project Implementation Unit, UCIPE.
The project "Initiative for Sustainable Public Infrastructure Development through Energy Efficiency Retrofits (INSPIREE)" will be implemented over a period of five years after the signing of the grant and financing agreements with AFD/KfW with a total value of €73 million. 30 million euro will be provided by AFD in the form of a loan, 38.7 million euro - in the form of a grant provided by the German Government/German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development through the German Development Bank "Credit Institute for Reconstruction" (KfW), and a further 4.3 million euro - as a contribution from the Government of the Republic of Moldova.
The negotiated credit agreement is to be signed by the Moldovan side through the Ministry of Energy and ratified by the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova.
