8 killed, 13 hurt in accident on railroads near Bulboaca

Eight persons were killed and 13 injured when the minibus in which they traveled was hit by a train. The accident happened in the afternoon of November 1, not far from Bulboaca village of Anenii Noi district, Info-Prim Neo reports. Most of the passengers of the minibus and the driver are from Serpeni village. Fourteen persons hurt in the accident were rushed to the Anenii Noi district hospital. Four of them were admitted to the reanimatology section. One of them - a girl aged 12 - died later. The driver was also taken to the hospital, but he received minor injures and was discharged. A woman was transported to Chisinau. According to preliminary inquiries, the accident was caused by the driver of the minibus as he ignored the red stoplights. He overtook the row of vehicles waiting to cross the railroad. The driver faces to 6 to 10 years in prison and will be deprived of the driver’s license for a period of up to five years, according to the Traffic Police Division. Mayor of Serpeni Elena Nicolaev said that among the passengers who died was a 13-year-old boy. The rest were women aged between 20 and 50, including mothers with three and five children. The driver of the minibus became a widower four years ago and raises alone three children.
