A man aged 85 in a wheelchair was evacuated by firefighters from a tenth-floor apartment located on Trandafirilor St in Chisinau’s Botanica district that caught fire, IPN reports.
Press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service Diana Turcan said the firefighters were alerted by the man’s neighbors in the afternoon of April 18. They saw smoke coming out through the window.
Two firefighting vehicles intervened and the fire was localized in 15 minutes. The flames destroyed a TV set and a blanket. The elderly man suffered carbon monoxide pensioning and was taken to the hospital by an ambulance.
The cause of fire is yet to be found out.
