The Chisinau heat supplier “Apa-Canal Chisinau” (ACC) assures that the water in the municipal water pipes is of a high quality. If deviations from the norms are identified, the company’s specialists intervene to remove them.
In a communiqué quoted by Info-Prim Neo, the supplier says that 97.5% of the water in the municipal water supply system comes from surface springs and from the Nistru, while 2.5% from underground streams. The water from the Nistru is subject to complex technological procedures. At the first stage, it is treated with reactive substances for primate disinfection. By the first half of 2012, the liquid chlorite was used as a disinfectant, but was then replaced by Sodium hypochlorite.
The water from artesian wells is disinfected only with liquid chlorite and is then distributed to the water supply networks. As the artesian water is used in small quantities and is mixed with the water coming from the Nistru, the quality of the water used by the consumers is the same.
In order to make sure that the quality norms are respected, the water at the intermediary pumping stations can be disinfected repeatedly, if need be. The networks are washed on a regular basis so as to reduce the risk of the water becoming infected with microorganisms.
The quality of the drinking water at every technological stage is checked by the two laboratories of the company, which are outfitted with modern equipment, at an interval of one hour. In parallel, the water from the centralized water supply system of Chisinau municipality is examined by the Chisinau Public Health Center.
