The International Civic Fest Festival “Moldova for the people” for the fourth year in a row brought together active NGOs from the country and abroad with the aim of inspiring, motivating and encouraging the people to become actively involved in the development of communities and to promote civic excellence. This year Civic Fest was held in partnership with the Music Festival GUSTAR, IPN reports.
According to the organizers, on August 6 and 7 each NGO presented their activities and successful projects in an interactive way, inviting visitors to take part in discussion workshops, presentations, games and contests.
Secretary of the Embassy of Sweden in Moldova Anja Jahn Gunther spoke about the importance and contribution of civil society to the democratic development of a state. “The Embassy of Sweden is honored to take part in Civic Fest, which has been celebrated starting with 2013. The Swedish support in Moldova lays special emphasis on civil society owing to the role of voice and catalyst that this can and should play in a society,” stated Anja Jahn Gunther.
East Europe Foundation president Sorin Mereacre appreciated the innovative format of the fourth festival. “We have been near our colleagues from Civic Fest during many years, while the partnership with the Festival GUSTAR is a new and creative impetus. Here, in this wonderful place in the meadow of the Raut, we can discuss the projects implemented by our partners from civil society and can admire music of a high quality and breathe fresh air,” he stated.
The over 40 NGOs that took part in the event presented their success stories and held a number of training workshops.
Civic Fest 2016 was staged by the public association “Synergetica Eur/Est” with the assistance of East Europe Foundation and with the funds provided by the Government of Sweden and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark/DANIDA.
